  1. Psalm 148:  Creation as gift;  we respond in praise
  2. Gen 1  (the “priestly source,” see Anderson, "Biblical Origins" pp. 19-23)
    1. Seven days : “God saw that is was good”
    2. Compare to building of Tent/Tabernacle (Exod 40; also the “priestly source”); a sevenfold sequence:  done “according to God’s command”
    3. God tabernacles among us by making a portion of his person (his "glory" reside on earth.  All Israel sees it.
  3.  Proverbs 8
    1. An individual unit of wisdom (lower case “w”)
    2. Wisdom (upper case “W”) as a way of life
    3. Wisdom is an international phenomenon
    4. Wisdom as an agent in creation
  4.  Sirach 24
    1. Wisdom and Torah (24:23-34)
    2. Resides in Temple (24:8-12)
  5.  Jewish translation of Gen 1:1 into Aramaic:   “With the agency of Wisdom, God created the world”
    1. the word "beginning" in Gen 1:1 is associated with Wisdom from Proverbs and Sirach
  6.  Gospel of John  (see the annotations!)
    1. With the agency of the Logos God creates the world (1:1-5)
    2. Logos means "principle of reason" a close parallel to the Hebrew word for "wisdom."
    3. Light in Gen 1:3 and John 1:4b-5
    4. Logos tabernacles among us (1:14-18, see annotation to this verse) so that we can see his glory.
