    1. 3 predictions of the passion:  8:31-33, 9:30-32, 10:32-34
    2. Envelope structure:  8:22-26 and 10:46-52
    3. 8:27-30
      1. John the Baptist, Elijah or one of the prophets
      2. Peter:  you are the Messiah!
      3. Don't tell anyone – Messianic secret
    4. 8:31-38
      1.  Messiah must suffer
      2.  …as well as those who follow him
      3.  "Who am I?" as self-involving question
  3. Who Jesus is for me?  Mark 6:7-30
    1. 6:7-13 and 30: anticipates resurrection
    2. Insertion: vv. 14-29
      1.  compare 14-16 with 8:27-30
      2. "John the Baptist has been raised from the dead!"
      3.  The passion of John, 6:17-29
    3. If John has a passion, Jesus has a passion then the disciples….
