Discussion: Exotica; Plato, Symposium, Phaedrus & Pausanias

In Exotica, why does Francis touch Christina? Why does Thomas touch Christina?
What does Francis need Christina for? What does Christina need Francis for?
In his opening speech, Phaedrus suggests that the fear of shame and the love of glory incite us to honorable deeds; give your own example of how this is supposed to work. Are Francis or Christina motivated by shame in Exotica? If so, how?
Pausanias distinguishes between two kinds of loves, a Uranian love and a Pandemian love. What does he praise about the former and what does he criticize about the latter? Are there models of these two loves in Exotica?
At 184c, Pausanias insists that any degradation is worth going through for the sake of virtue and wisdom. He gives the example of slavery; discuss other examples and whether you find their pursuit for the sake of virtue persuasive.
