Capture Screen
Capturing ("grabbing") and saving a screen image
Windows
- Copy to the clipboard:
PRINT SCRN – copies the entire screen as it appears on your monitor
ALT+PRINT SCRN – copies only the active window
Note: SHIFT and CTRL do not affect screen capture - Paste into new a Fireworks
or PhotoShop document:
Launch the application and choose File>New
A new file is created in the size of the image on the clipboard
Paste the image into the blank canvas - Edit (if necessary):
Crop, erase what you don’t need, add titles, etc. - Save:
Choose File > Save As
GIF format is often good for screen captures; use JPEG if it is a photo
Macintosh
- Capture the image:
APPLE-SHIFT-3 – saves the entire screen to a PNG file on your desktop
APPLE-SHIFT-4 – allows you to choose a section of the screen to capture
If necessary: - Open in Fireworks or Photoshop:
Launch the application and open the file - Edit and save (as above)
