Assignment: Hour 5

  1. Download and open chap05-start.fla
  2. Save a copy of the file under a new name
    (this gives you the option of going back to a "clean" original later)
  3. Convert two of the images provided in the library into symbols
  4. In separate layers, place an instance of one symbol over another
  5. Apply a blend
  6. In a new layer, draw a shape
  7. Fill the shape with a colored gradient
  8. In a new layer, add some text
  9. Apply a filter to the text
  10. Save-and-compact the file

In Class Exercise: Image Editing 1

  1. Create an account in Flickr
    1. Requires Yahoo Account
    2. For privacy settings, see "Your Account"
      1. Personal Information
      2. Privacy & Permissions - you need not make your work accessible
    3. If you choose to limit access to your images, make the professor one of your contacts

  2. Edit an image
    1. Open the monitor file in PhotoShop
    2. Save a COPY as "monitor2"
    3. Scale the image to 400 pixels high
    4. Remove the extra on left
    5. Rotate the image a bit to the right
    6. Adjust the color levels and brightness
    7. Sharpen the image
    8. Add text
    9. Distort the text to line up with the screen
    10. Save the file as PSD
    11. Save as JPG

  3. Upload the JPG to your Flickr account
