Professor Mazurek is interested in Latin Literature, Roman epigraphy, Roman history, and women and gender in classical antiquity. She received her B.A. from Dickinson College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her book, Municipal Virtues in the Roman Empire (Teubner 1996), examines the epigraphical language of praise in Roman municipalities during the empire. Her articles include studies of women in Roman public life and the poetry of Ovid. Her current research focuses on Roman Elegy. Mazurek has received the Kaneb Teaching Award.
