Oral Presentation Guidelines
Your presentation should be about 20 to 30 minutes long and should include the following:
-
Introduce the author and provide a description of the historical and cultural milieu in which she is writing. (Check the library catalog and use the internet.) For someone like Nawaal al-Saadawi, for example, there is a wealth of material on the Internet about her.
-
Discuss the main points of the book under consideration, briefly explaining, when applicable, why you think these points are important to the development of the main theme/s of the work. Identify the main characters, their relationship to one another, and their influence upon one another.
-
Conclude your presentation with at least two questions or comments to stimulate further discussion. If there are sections in the book that need further clarification or amplification, these could be indicated and thrown out also as possible discussion points.
